BravoZulu is a Canadian mission-support company delivering logistics, infrastructure, fleet, and personnel services for the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), NATO, and allied organizations.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Environmental Manager will design, implement, and oversee BravoZulu’s environmental management program across domestic and deployed operations. This role ensures compliance with Canadian environmental legislation, NATO environmental protection standards (STANAGs), and host nation laws. The Environmental Manager will lead waste management, hazardous materials control, energy efficiency, and environmental reporting to support sustainable mission delivery.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

Essential: 

  • Canadian citizenship (mandatory for clearance). 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related discipline. 

  • 3+ years of environmental management experience, preferably in defence, construction, energy, or international projects. 

  • Strong knowledge of Canadian environmental regulations, TDG, and hazardous material standards. 

  • Experience implementing ISO 14001 or similar EMS frameworks.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. 

  • Eligible for Government of Canada Secret Security Clearance. Desirable: 

  • Professional designation (EP, P.Eng., CRSP with environmental specialty, or equivalent). 

  • Experience in deployed, austere, or post-conflict environments. 

  • Familiarity with NATO STANAGs for environmental protection. 

  • Prior work with CAF, DND, NATO, or allied contractors. 

  • Bilingualism (English/French).

RESPONSIBILITIES

Environmental Management System (EMS)

  • Develop, implement, and maintain an ISO 14001-compliant EMS. 

  • Establish environmental protection policies, procedures, and standards for projects and camps.

Compliance & Audits

  • Ensure compliance with Canadian, NATO, and host nation environmental requirements.

  • Conduct site audits and inspections of waste, fuel, and water systems.

  • Maintain documentation and reporting for audits and client reviews.

Waste & Hazardous Materials

  • Manage hazardous materials (fuels, lubricants, chemicals) in accordance with TDG NATO STANAGs.

  • Oversee waste segregation, recycling, and safe disposal practices.

  • Implement wastewater, grey water, and sewage management systems.

Sustainability & Risk Management

  • Conduct environmental risk assessments for new projects (construction, camp operations, logistics).

  • Promote energy efficiency, water conservation, and reduce environmental footprint. 

  • Support environmental impact assessments (EIAs) and mitigation measures.

Training & Awareness 

  • Train staff and subcontractors in environmental compliance and waste handling.

  • Build a culture of environmental responsibility across teams. 

Coordination & Reporting

  • Liaise with CAF, NATO, host nation authorities, and subcontractors on environmental standards. 

  • Prepare environmental reports, incident logs, and corrective action plans. 

  • Provide technical input to tenders and proposals on environmental capabilities.
